Rents and Service Charges Accountant

CCHA are a small local housing association based in central Croydon. We have around 40 employees so the organisation prides itself on having a small, family feel. Despite this we are constantly responding to change and things can be fast paced which makes it a vibrant and enjoyable office. We have a hard working group of staff and require an enthusiastic, motivated and experienced Rents and Service Charges Accountant to join our small finance team.
The key responsibility of this post is calculating posting and administering services charges and rents for around 1,500 residents, monitoring and invoicing non-rental income. Preparing annual estimates, actual service charge accounts and budget data on service charges as well as preparing management accounts for service-chargeable cost elements and reviewing the results together with the housing managers. Other duties include processing cheques and electronic payments, maintaining records for the rent bank account on SUN system and elements of general bookkeeping as specified in the role profile.
The role requires good knowledge and experience of service charges including awareness of the relevant legislation, understanding of social landlords’ rents procedures, a strong experience in maintaining financial records and excellent understanding of the principles of double entry book keeping.
The successful candidate will be a team player, covering for colleagues where appropriate and working towards the objectives outlined in the organisation’s business plan.
